Blog: Weekend Getaway Destination: Secluded Paradise
One of the many benefits of living in Miami at the luxury condos of Brickell Flatiron is that no matter where you are, natural beauty surrounds you: just look out the floor-to-ceiling windows and take in the breathtaking vistas of the water. And living in this city means that you'll be able to easily access all that outdoor splendor, whether you're in the mood for a day trip with the family or a long weekend.
So, get out and explore the Sunshine State as it's meant to be explored—outside in the sunshine. Here are our recommendations for adventurous escapes: from paddling down lazy pristine rivers with manatees to a safari that’s just a short trip from home at Brickell Flatiron.
Pack the car and head north to Florida's western coast, where a seemingly untouched swath of lush and diverse nature awaits. Crystal River is a go-to destination for hikers, anglers, kayakers, and amateur ornithologists. With 27,500 acres of land and estuary waters to explore, it's probably best to plan on staying a few days. After all, you wouldn't want to miss one of the highlights of the area: swimming with manatees. At nearby Three Sisters Springs, book a tour, put on a wetsuit, jump in the water, and be prepared to be enchanted by these gentle creatures.
Just an hour and a half west of Miami, you'll be able to see other marine mammals, like dolphins, in their natural habitat as you enjoy the seclusion of the Ten Thousand Islands region of Florida. This is a must-visit locale for kayakers of all levels. There are even some islands to camp on (but that's best left to the more experienced). If paddling isn't your thing, there are tours that will let you enjoy (most of) the Ten Thousand Islands from the comfort of a catamaran. Yes, this maze-like grouping of small islands tucked within mangroves is vast and could take a lifetime to explore, but even just a day spent kayaking or boating through this stunning park promises to be memorable.
To literally immerse yourself in Florida's aquatic splendor, John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park on Key Largo is the ultimate spot for snorkeling and scuba diving in azure waters and exploring the coral reefs. Those who prefer to remain dry but still enjoy the colorful ecosystem below the surface can book a glass-bottom boat. Pennekamp is also an ideal location for a picnic and swimming.
While Florida has plenty of water-bound activities, landlubbers have lots to do too. There's no need to plan a long trip to Africa for a safari. You can experience the splendor of the Serengeti and beyond at Lion Country Safari without ever leaving your car. This safari adventure lets you drive through a wildlife preserve where you'll encounter everything from alpacas to giraffes. Just remember, no convertibles. The park can also set you up with one-on-one animal experiences, like the opportunity to have one of the chimps paint for you, or you can go on a flamingo "mingle."
After your adventures, wherever they may be, it's nice to come home to relaxation and luxury at Brickell Flatiron, so contact the sales team today to schedule a virtual presentation or in-person appointment.
