Blog: Upcoming at Bayfront Park
End-of-Autumn Events at Bayfront Park
Fall has arrived. For many people around the country, this means the return of wool sweaters, snug boots, and limited time outside. While there are joys to be found in a crisp fall, residents of flats in Miami Beach won’t find themselves skipping out on outside time because of the weather. In fact, late fall might be the best time to be in the Miami area; after all, the average high in November is 79 degrees.
Bayfront Park is just a quick jaunt north from Brickell Flatiron, and the palm-tree-lined park has no shortage of events on tap for anyone who likes fresh air and physical activity. Here are some of our favorite ways to take advantage of the sublime weather and pristine waterfront views at Bayfront Park.
Do Yoga, Yoga, and More Yoga
Whether you’re a yogi or you can’t remember the last time you were able to touch your toes, there’s a yoga class for you at Bayfront Park. Not only has yoga been scientifically proven to improve flexibility, balance, muscle tone, and circulatory health—it’s also been shown to have a positive impact on mental health, reducing stress and anxiety while improving your quality of sleep.
At Bayfront Park, beginners and experts alike gather throughout the week to practice yoga outside. Sunrise yoga is held every Friday at 6:20 am, presenting a rare opportunity in our busy world to start the day with a dose of calm and meditation, watching as the sun rises over the glimmering bay. If you’re not the early-bird type, there are plenty of late morning classes available over the weekend, the perfect pre-brunch activity for anyone living in these luxury Brickell condos. Or if you like to practice yoga as a way to unwind after work, check out one of the 6:00 pm evening classes. Remember to bring your own mat.
Try a Sunday Night Salsa Class
Need to spice up your Sunday nights? Head down to the park for salsa lessons at the Tina Hills Pavilion from 6 – 7 pm. The classes are by donation only and have a low-pressure, neighborly atmosphere, with plenty of beginners preparing for their first dance. It’s so fun that you won’t even realize you’re getting a serious cardio workout, so make sure to hydrate.
Run Stairs for Breakfast
If you’re a runner, you’ve probably tried it all: the treadmill, the trail, the streets. When it comes to cardio, it’s easy to hit a plateau. You stop seeing those initial gains you made during the beginning of your training, back when a flat run was challenging. Well, lace up your running sneakers because Bayfront Park has a new challenge: Stairs for Breakfast.
Meet with a dedicated group every Wednesday at 6:20 am for a run on the park’s stairs. Let the energy of your fellow runners be your motivation as you banish boredom with this challenging workout. After this early-morning exertion, you can pick up a nutrient-packed smoothie at the Purple Orchid and enjoy a little sunshine. Sure, it’s not hot cocoa enjoyed by a frosted window, but most of us wouldn’t have it any other way.
