When it comes to the Fourth of July, it’s always preferable to be close to the water, and Miami’s oceanside perch makes it the ideal place for viewing fireworks. In recent years, the downtown area of Miami has seen an immense amount of growth, with an array of impressive Brickell condos rising up in and around the art-centric district. Along with this influx of construction and interest, the diversity of The Magic City has expanded as well, and the available array of Independence Day celebrations reflects this. Here are some of the best July 4th celebrations in Miami this year:
America’s Birthday Bash: Downtown Miami
America’s Birthday Bash in downtown Miami is undoubtedly one of the best spots in the area to spend the holiday. The event, which is free and the largest of its kind in Miami, has something for attendees of all ages. Bayside Marketplace and Bayfront Park put together this sprawling spectacle each year and have expanded and enhanced what it offers with each go-’round. Daytime attractions include various food and beverage vendors, live music, a dedicated kids’ zone, and a petting zoo. Throughout the day and evening, a Samuel Adams Beer Garden will cater to barley and hops enthusiasts. You can view the massive America’s Birthday Bash fireworks show, which begins at 9 p.m., from picturesque Bayfront Park or from the Bayside Marketplace, but be sure to arrive early to get a good spot.
While the America’s Birthday Bash fireworks show can be seen from nearly all spots in Bayfront Park or from the Bayside Marketplace, consider splurging on a more elegant (and much less crowded) affair by buying tickets on the SeaFair, a vessel known as “America’s Megayacht Venue.” Aboard the SeaFair on July 4th this year, you’ll enjoy drinks and hors d’oeuvres as music by DJ Rosano reverberates out onto the bay. The expansive views of the spectacular fireworks show you’ll also enjoy from the yacht’s sky deck are sure to make this an Independence Day to remember.
Fire on the Fourth: Miami Beach
The Fire on the Fourth event in Miami Beach is another great option for some patriotic fun this year. Scheduled to run from 11 a.m.-9 p.m., the event will take place at the North Shore Park bandshell. Indulge in a tempting array of food and beverages while you listen to an impressive lineup of live music performances that begin at noon. Sets by DJs Tegan, Kat Lane, and Fautre will be followed by the Big Brooklyn Red and Dave Mason, with the music running straight until the fireworks cap off the evening.
56th Annual Fourth of July Parade
For a time-tested and traditional July 4th experience, check out the Fourth of July Parade in Key Biscayne. Running along Crandon Boulevard, the parade offers a great way for kids and adults to really get into the spirit of the Independence Day celebration. Floats and carts take to the streets at 11 a.m. as the vibrant and energetic affair begins to flow through the streets with patriotic flair. The parade is followed by a Kiwanis Picnic that takes place on the Village Green and is followed by a fireworks show at 9 p.m.
